What Liquidation Watch shows
Liquidation Watch groups observed liquidation prices into clusters around the observed market mark. It is a map of forced-exposure context: which liquidation levels were visible, how much observed notional sits there, and whether the exposure is on the long or short side.
Long liquidation clusters appear below the mark because a falling market can pressure long positions. Short liquidation clusters appear above it because a rising market can pressure short positions. The map describes the observed level and exposure; it does not say that price must travel there.
Read a cluster in four dimensions
Direction: long or short tells you which side of the observed positions would be exposed at that level.
Distance: the percentage or price distance from the observed mark tells you how near or far the cluster is in the displayed frame.
Observed notional: the dollar size is the exposure visible in the scan, not an estimate of every position on Hyperliquid.
Collateral context: where available, Isobath shows how much observed cluster exposure sits with wallets that have zero available collateral. This adds account-state context to a price-level map.
Example: reading a short cluster
Suppose Liquidation Watch shows a short cluster at +3.1% from the mark with $9M observed notional. The accurate reading is: “The scan observed $9M of short liquidation exposure grouped around a level 3.1% above the mark.” That tells you what was observed and where. It does not tell you that price will rise 3.1%, that the positions will be liquidated, or that the resulting flow will move price.
Why the map is a lower bound
The map is limited by the liquidation state available to Isobath’s observation process. Wallets outside the frame, unavailable accounts, and fields that could not be read are not silently replaced with assumptions. Check the scan age, attempted population, unavailable count, and coverage alongside the cluster.
This is why the map should be read with the methodology, not as an isolated chart. A stale or narrow scan needs a narrower description.
Combine liquidation context with account records
Liquidation Watch answers “where is observed forced-exposure risk clustered?” Market pages answer “which observed accounts changed?” The Heatmap shows where material account activity is concentrated, while Rotation can reveal same-account changes across markets. Use those surfaces together when deciding what deserves investigation.

A useful citation includes the market, observed mark, cluster direction, distance, observed notional, observation time, coverage, and stable URL. The Daily Tape provides dated records; the glossary defines liquidation cluster, coverage, and observation window.
